Information on Election and Voting Ordinance

During the July 2010, General Council meeting a resolution was presented to amend the current Election and Voting Ordinance. This is a necessary step to making any changes to the Kaw Constitution. In 2006 when the Kaw Nation removed the Secretary of the Interior from the amendment process, BIA instructed us to write the procedures to hold such an election into our laws. This has never been completed. The purpose of this resolution is to provide procedures for an election to amend the Kaw Constitution. We have uploaded a strikethrough and underline draft of the entire ordinance to the documents page for your review.
